[/vc_toggle][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row 0=””][vc_column 0=””][vc_toggle title=”Whats Multisig “]To understand what multisig escrow is, you first have to know a little about Bitcoin. You can send Bitcoin to an address. Somebody gives you their Bitcoin address and you can send Bitcoins to that address and now they have that money. Well in addition to those normal addresses, Bitcoin has other special kinds of magic addresses, for lack of a better term. One of those kinds of magic addresses is called a multisig address. And a multisig address is an address that can receive money just like a normal address, but then in order to spend the money, more than one person have to agree on how to spend it, otherwise the money just sits in the address and cannot be spent. So if you and I create a “2-of-2 multisig address”, and money is sent to it, that means the two of us have to agree how to spend that money. If we don’t agree, then the money just sits there. The first “2” in “2-of-2” means that two keys — your key and my key — are required to sign off on the transaction. The second “2” means that there were two total keys to choose from.[/vc_toggle][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row 0=””][vc_column 0=””][vc_toggle title=”What is a 2-3 multisig escrow”]in a 2-of-3 multisig address, there are three keys, and any two of them must agree on how to spend the money. In the case of a freelance market transaction, those three keys would be the employer, the freelancer, and the escrow. And then any two of them –employer+freelancer, employer+escrow, or escrow+freelancer — could agree on how to spend the money sent to that address.
